Sanction II - version 2.8 Release Notes IMPORTANT - Due to changes in the Customizable Coding and Printing capabilities of this version of Sanction, several existing features or expected parameters may have changed slightly. See the section on "Changes" below for details on how Coding and Printing functions have been affected. ******************************************************************************************* IMPORTANT REGISTRY CHANGES With the exception of some legacy support for the OnLine Sync application, the Registry is no longer used to store user settings. All user settings are now stored in the User's Application Data subdirectory off of the Local Settings directory. The User Setting file is created automatically the first time a user launches the program (if the file does not exist). To set default settings for users other than the current defaults (for example changing the location of case databases), change the settings from within Sanction, then copy the logged on user file ("username".xml) from the CurrentUser\Local Settings\Application Data\Verdict Sytems\SanctionII subdirectory into the Sanction subdirectory and rename the file to defaults.xml. ******************************************************************************************* ON LINE SYNC THe VSOnlineSYnc utility requires user read and write access to the VSOnlineSynch folder off of the Sanction subdirectory. Delete ALl annotations and Capture functions added to Presentation right click menus ****************************************************************************************** Changes to Printing and Coding With the addition of customizable coding features, the Print dialog options now include the capability to print out various coding fields along with the default ID, Description and Exhibit # fields. These selections are saved when exiting, however if you load a case which does not have the Coding fields set, you must re-select the default fields to use in your print requirements. You may also now add fields as annotations to a selected annotation layer. This option is set from the Exhibit Stamp option, but can be used by the other Print functions. Setting a barcode for Reports - there is no separate barcode field setting when printing reports. The barcode field used for reports (when the Add Barcode option is selected) uses the barcode field set from the Barcodes tab. Customizing Coding and Network Versions Only one user at a time may modify the code settings from the CUstomize Coding menu options. If a user modifies the current case coding options, any other users on the cdding tab may notice the selected form layout changing. This is by design. In general, Customizing the COding screen options should be done only when necessary for the addition of new fields. ****************************************************************************************** Windows XP Registry changes The default setting for Adding Items to Presentation Folders is now set to Do Not Add In order to support users who wish to log onto NT Domains from Windows XP, the registry entries for Sanction II have been relocated to the Current User key. You can only install Sanction II on an XP system when you are logged on locally. ****************************************************************************************** Known Issues: Selecting the protractor tool intermittently draws an annotation outside of the image area. To work around the issue, delete all annotations and then select the protractor tool. It is not recommended to use this tool in Presentation Mode. AN error message is generated when selecting the help file for the On-Line Sync application. This will be updated in a maintnenance release. Databases created with Sanction II.8 are not fully backwards compatible with earlier versions. If you wish to import a case database into an earlier version, any data in the coding table will not be imported. You must manually import coding fields using the field import function. Text On/Off and Dual Languages - with the addition of dual language support, the Show Synchronized text option will not restore text if the user has de-selected BOTH languages. You must manually select one of the language options to restore the text window. Magnifying glass and Redactions - you must SAVE annotations when using the Magnifying glass prior to loading the tool, otherwise Redacted regions will show through the magnified region There is a slight delay in updating the list view when adding new items. Clicking on a different category will update the list properly Rotated image annotations cannot be saved if the source image is read only or they will be saved at the original angle instead of the rotated angle. Only PDF files (requires purchase of PDF license) which are NOT vector based can be saved (Affects Auto Save Rotations, Save As New, Burn in Annotations). Multipage tif conversion to PDF may result in a PDF file which cannot be viewed in Sanction. We are researching the issue. Hyperlinking to an item in the Other Exhibits folder will invalidate the Restore Hyperlink Button. You must manually reload the source Bullet List or Timeline. Watermark templates are scaled to the loaded image. Panning disabled when using Remote Control from Main Screen. Magnifying the same region twice when contrast is enabled has mixed results. ****************************************************************************************** Running earlier versions and Sanction II.8 Due to the addition of customizable coding, earlier versions of Sanction and Sanction II.8 cannot be run on the same machine. ****************************************************************************************** Fixes to known issues: Unable to add multiple multi-page tiff files through drag and drop Convert Network Case copied items to root destination without regard to category Running setup to update existing install failed to register dlls causing one time error mesage The Update Service prompts an error when checking for updates to Sanction - this functionality has removed. Users may stil use the Check Version option to see if updates are available.
