Why do I get a "Method '~' of object '~' failed" error?

This error indicates the presence of an incompatible audio or video codec installed on your computer as the primary codec for MPEG 1 playback. One known example is ffdshow. This codec seems to be incompatible with Windows Media Encoder and has been observed to cause this error during the conversion process.

The solution is to open Windows Control Panel, go to Add or Remove Programs and uninstall ffdshow from your system. If it was installed separately, it will appear in the program listing under its own name, but as an open source program, it is also a common addition to many Audio / Video Codec packages. Look for any such codec packages that may be on your computer and uninstall them as well.

Once the incompatible codec has been removed, Clip Converter should resume working normally. Please note, some codecs may require that you restart your computer in order to completely remove them from the system.
