Sanction II Media Clip Segment Files (.mcs)
If you are using Sanction II’s media clip creator to create clip segments, you may find a need to transfer the clips to another case or remote computer. If you are not running Sanction II on a network, the .mcs export allows you to create a load file that will add clips and their appropriate file references to a different Sanction II case.
The .mcs file format is based on three entries per media group – the Root file information, the Segment information and the multi-segment information.
When an .mcs file is imported into a different case database, Sanction II first looks to see if the root file already exists. If it does, the rest of the section’s import information is added to the Media group where the file resides.
If no file found in the database, then the information is automatically added and the group/ID is added to the Videos category.
Important – while the .mcs export and import features add a great deal of flexibility in creating clip segments on different computers, they should not be used in place of a sharing a case database on a network. There are instances where incorrect naming or duplicate entries can limit the functionality of the import/export process. Be sure you verify ALL clips imported from an .mcs file to insure that no errors have occurred and that all segments/multi-segments have been added properly.
The .mcs export can only be accessed when the Videos category is selected from the Main case tree view.
