Scanning image\ebx_940879204.gif

Sanction II's Scan feature allows you to add images and documents to your case using any TWAIN compliant scanner.

To launch the Scan dialog, click on the image\ebx_940879204.gif icon.

You may also choose Scan Page from the Tools menu. Be sure your scanner is hooked up and turned on, as TWAIN drivers vary from machine to machine and can sometimes take several minutes to advise you that no scanner is present. (During this time, it may appear that your PC has locked up.)

If you are not currently in the main case Documents or Images folder, Sanction II will advise you to select a Category or Group before continuing.

IMPORTANT – Scanning from Windows XP’s scan application is NOT currently supported. Images scanned with the XP application are saved in CMK format, not RGB, and therefore cannot be displayed in the Sanction II image control without file conversion.

Settings Tab

The settings tab is used to define the file type, scanned area and output resolution for the scanned image file. In general, use the default settings of 300x300, Black and White Tif for scanning documents. You may set you own parameters for color scanning.

Image Naming Tab

To scan a page into a case, you must provide the Categories (Documents or Images), Group Name and unique ID for the item. When you select a Category, all of the existing Groups in the Case will be displayed in the Group combo box. Select an existing Group or type in a new name to create a new group.

Note - when you select an existing group, Sanction II will automatically display the next available page for the group.

To create a unique ID for the scanned page, you must provide a prefix and page number increment format. The prefix is the non-changing portion of the item name, while the Page # format is the number of digits to be displayed after the prefix.

For example, using the prefix "DOCSA-H" with a page # format of "0000" will create the following IDs:

DOCSA-H0001

DOCSA-H0002

DOCSA-H0003

DOCSA-H0004

If you do not enter a page # increment you will be prompted for a new page ID with every scan.

If you are scanning only a single page, or are inserting a page, you may also append a letter (A,B,C, etc) to the end of ID by entering the letter in the Add Suffix text box. The letter will be placed at the end of the ID naming sequence.

Note - Some TWAIN Scanners only allow scanning from the TWAIN driver dialog. If you have problems scanning, choose the Show TWAIN Controls option and select the appropriate settings.

By default, scanned images are created in the \CaseItems\ folder off of the Sanction II program directory. Click on the Change button to change the destination location of scanned images.

Once you have entered the appropriate ID information and file settings, you are ready to begin scanning.

To begin, click on the Scan button.

If you are using an Automatic Document Feeder, each page # and ID will be automatically incremented during the scan process.

To return to the main program screen, click on the Done button..
