When you import certain load files, Sanction II prompts you with an "Iterate pages?" message. If you choose No to this prompt, then all page IDs in each document are appended to the page 1 ID in the format Page 1 ID-XXX.
Iteration uses the prefix and format of the numeric portion of the ID to create sequential IDs where the numeric portion of the ID is also incremented with each page.
If you wish to use iterated numbering after the fact, click on the Document you wish to change from the Tree and hit the SHIFT F10 key combination. This will change the IDs in the current group to reflect a numeric ordering based on the page 1 ID.
Note the following:
Suppose you have imported a document creating the following IDs:
DOC0001
DOC0001-002
DOC0001-003
……
Using iterated naming, these IDs would be changed to the following based on the prefix and format of the number following the Prefix:
Prefix – DOC
Format - "0000"
DOC0001
DOC0002
DOC0003
Example 2
Suppose you have imported a document creating the following IDs:
001214
001214-002
001214-003
Using iterated naming:
001214
001215
001216
Important – If your original import contained duplicate IDs, this option will fail. Be sure the IDs that will be created from iterations will not create duplicate entries!
